What is the driving force in your life?
"Everything got started in Him & finds its purpose in Him." (Colossians 1:16B, MSG)
Knowing your purpose gives meaning to your life. Without a purpose, life is meaningless, unfulfilling, and frustrating to say the least. To be honest nothing seemed to fill the void in my heart or give me purpose when I attempted to live a life without God. I pursued a false worldly promise that if I just reached the top of the ladder I would experience true joy. The top of the ladder for me was winning a national championship & when I reached the top of that latter I was not fulfilled.
The truth is, true joy is a bi-product of knowing & following Jesus. When I put God in first place & seeked him above everything, I began to experience an instant boost of hope, faith, & love.
Without a clear purpose you have no foundation on which you base decisions, allocate your time, and use your recourses. Knowing your purpose actually simplifies your life. Before I gave my life to Christ I would make my decisions based on my circumstances & whatever my mood was at the moment. Present day God is my moral compass. Picture yourself for a second following a GPS. You plug in your final destination & begin following the commands. Turn left in 200 feet! (Australian female voice from mine) If we loose focus or make a wrong turn we are quickly rerouted & our GPS will recalibrate the route for us. When God is our GPS & we continue to follow him, He will lead us to our final destination even if we make the wrong turns or lose focus.
"I am your creator. You were in my care even before you were born." (Isaiah44:2,CEV)
Knowing your purpose focus your life & concentrates your efforts & energy to what's important. Your life becomes very efficient by being selective. Think about how powerful it is when we focus light. With a magnifying glass, the sun's rays can be focused to set a piece of paper on fire! When light is focused even more in laser beams, it can cut through steel!!! If you want your life to have impact, focus it. Prune the actives that don't matter, be selective, & never confuse activity with productivity.
Knowing your purpose motivates your life and produces passion. I have never felt as energized as I do today because present day I have a clear purpose. Instead of waking up & going through the motions, I find myself constantly fanning the flame. My passion is steady because nothing during my day is meaningless or without purpose.
"You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you." (Isaiah 26.3, TEV)
In conclusion I firmly believe living a life with purpose is the path to peace. what is the driving force behind your life?
P.S. If you have not read the book Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, I would highly recommend reading it & engaging in it. I am working through my second round of it & God is revealing more & more as I engage.
Love you guys,
